Well, that was a week and a half! It’s budget time at work and I’ve just returned from arguing for five days non-stop about the investment I want to make in my part of the company. If ever I deserved a glass of wine, it is tonight, after all of that (and I have one by me right now!)

It started off with preparatory discussions here on Monday and kicked off properly with the face-to-face arguing in Paris from Tuesday morning (which entailed getting up at 4am to catch the morning flight there – I hate the very concept of 4am!) Then, last night I got back from there before leaving this morning at 5am to get to the site I am responsible for to finish off the arguments. I’m only just back home in Hamburg and I am completely and utterly dead!

It’s an interesting time for me since I’m looking at making big changes to the part of the company I manage. I’ve given myself a year to turn it around in a lot of ways and that’s going to be a year which is exciting, challenging and certainly extremely tiring, I think, but one which will hopefully leave me with something I can be very proud of.

I’ve been very sensitive to how I’m interacting with my US-based management to see if they’re reacting to me differently after my blog was discovered by my colleagues. So far, I’ve not seen any overt signs, so I’m still waiting to see if this will change things in the way I was warned it might. We’ll see! :)

My, my, my what a busy girl you are! I had no idea you had so much responsibility. Travelling does tire one and when you start at 4am that makes it worse I guess. I hope it was all worthwhile and I hope you achieve what you’ve set out to do. Maybe that unwanted reaction from those in the US will not materialise. Perhaps in six to twelve month’s time they will realise what an asset they have in you, if they don’t already! What you need right now is a good lie in! How co-incidental! Lots of love
