Well, as I mentioned a few weeks back, the company I’m working for is moving the management team to Geneva. Geneva’s a city which I do love, but after thinking for a long time about it, I’m not going to be taking the position there (for a lot of reasons). This means that from 1st January, I’m going to be out of work. I do get a nice little package to tide me over, so I’m not that worried, but I am sending my CV out rather a lot at the moment!
I had hoped that this job would have turned out to be a more long-term one… I was doing things I liked a lot and in the last year, I’ve started making a visible difference to the business I manage. It would have been lovely to see that to completion, but I’m still leaving on a good note having launched a new look to the company and having brought it to profitability for the first time in years. I’d also hoped to be in Hamburg a little longer since I’ve really grown to like the place, but there are lots more lovely places to live, so we’ll see what happens there!
As for the future, well it’s all rather exciting! I’m applying for jobs all over, but mostly in London so that I can be with my gorgeous girlfriend. There are some fascinating jobs out there and I have my eye on a few of them as potential next steps for me, so fingers very crossed!
This sort of thing is always stressful, but it’s also rather invigorating! I have new challenges ahead of me and I look forward to seeing where I’ll be in a few months’ time!

My fingers are crossed and thumbs pressed.
For selfish reasons, I want you to land in Berlin, but I’ll be happy for you wherever you land.

Thanks, Adam! And Berlin would be cool!
Hamburg will definitely miss you, but sounds like you have an awesome adventure ahead. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out!
Thanks, Mandi. I’ll definitely miss Hamburg, too. It’s been fun here and it is a lovely place to live!
Home is where the heart is Emily. Moving house though is a bit of a pain but it is an adventure too. New horizons (you know all about those now don’t you?…LOL) and new beginnings. You now have the opportunity to change things. In any event I am pretty certain that you will be successful in whatever you plan to do and I wish you the best in that respect. Enjoy your ‘enforced’ break………….Love

Yes, home definitely is where the heart is, especially when one has moved as much as I have! I’m very much looking forward to seeing where I end up next!
You are such an inspiration to me. But you know that already, right? You help me stay positive, energetic, optimistic, and know i can bounce back. And $%^$ bless (cheap) air travel: it does not matter where you are, i know i’ll always find a connexion. Actually, i do not know London….yet….^_^

Gosh… Thanks, sweetie. And the connection will always be there, just as will your open invitation to visit any time, London or not!
I too will miss visiting you in Hamburg. It is a truly lovely city and holds my favourite shoe shop! Nevertheless, come to London, where there will be a warm heart, cosy hugs and lashings and lashings of ginger beer! Do come, do! x
Oh, OK… You’ve convinced me!
It will be just lovely to be together and I shall be demanding that ginger beer (with copious amounts of wine, of course!)
I wish you well and can’t wait to see what’s next.

Oooo! An adventure!
Sorry the other didn’t work out, I’ve heard Geneva is expensive and not always properly compensated for that difference.
So what is next?
Who knows.
But how fun to be on the lookout for the next great thing!
